I think I was more stunned than anything else by what is taking place in the world right now. Maybe it's the Anglican in me (which is, I believe, the closest a Christian can ever come to being a full blown Atheist or at least a Humanist) but I cannot really comprehend or understand the thought processes of the people wandering through the streets with placards that read 'Kill those that insult the Prophet' etc. Or maybe it's the mystic bitch just wanting to be left alone so she can think and write in peace. Actually no. It's the paranoid misanthrope just yearning to get out a 45" and a shovel (lol).

I think it's the sheer hypocrisy that staggers me, really. I can understand why someone gets offended when someone else insults their religion or some aspect of their personal belief, I mean, I feel like that almost every time I step into a Church, or into a bookshop even, but I don't understand why such people can't understand that they have caused as much offence to others in various ways (not even going to go there) as they are experiencing themselves.

But then, then, something happened...

Apparently, every single highly offended Muslim across the world is boycotting Danish products.

At first, I didn't quite realise what that meant. My first thought was, "Argh! Low blow! Not the Economy! (after all, look what happened to South Africa)" But then it truly sunk in.

Good God.

They're not going to be buying any cheese.

...

Or bacon! Or pipes! Or (and this hurts me even to contemplate it) any books by Hans Christian Anderson! Sandi Toksvig!
