There's a wonderful scene in Topsy Turvy where Leonora and Jessie are in their dressing room between acts of 'The Sorceror'. They sing a little bit from a song that begins 'And yet in spite of all my pains...' as a sort of vocal warm up. I just liked their costumes and the idea of their possible on-stage dynamic, so I took out a pencil and before I knew it...

For some reason, I tend to draw Victorian heroines as slightly choleric. More 'Corpse Bride' than 'Topsy Turvy'...

And this is from 'A modern major general'. The guy from the Australian company looked nothing like this but I really just wanted an excuse to draw dancing old men with umbrellas.
