Having an interesting discussion whilst attempting to do revision in Physics class with a guy who is Chinese during which he revealed that as a child, he had been dedicated to a particular god (the name of which he didn't say - he was too busy making jokes about the benefit of elaborate traditional funerals for one who is not that fond of their parents; I was too busy laughing).
Now, as I have learnt, from past experience, that there is very little my you guys on my f-list don't know when combined into one enormous super-brain, I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this sort of cultic practice in China/amongst Chinese diaspora, as my knowledge of religious China is very much limited to vague facts about state sanctioned Christianity, Islam, Ancestral worship/honouring and a few threads of ol' Confucius.
And actually, anything pertaining to religion throughout that (ridiculously large) region of Asia (excluding Japan) would be appreciated also.
