First Greek class of this epoch! It rocked so hard, it bouldered.

I observed a wood pigeon repeatedly slap a pair of magpies this morning. It was rather amusing, because usually you think of pigeons as quite dopy and pathetic and not vicious chavs. Certainly the smaller, rock (apparently) variety tend to bugger off whenever a magpie is in sight, and are understandably, but nevertheless annoyingly jittery in the presence of a raven (who try to eat them).

I just really like watching pigeons. I know most people hate them, but I think they're adorable and generally amusing. Perhaps it's the way they permanently cock their little heads to one side to demonstrate their perpetual state of general confusedness, or the way they fluff up in the cold, or huddle under trees when it starts to rain (apparently they're not naturally social animals, which is interesting because they do seem to frequently get into that uber-frustrating 'stupid mob-flock' mode...). I just think they're great.

They're also rubbish parents, which is a bit of a relief when you consider the 'super-mom' style of rearing so evident in the natural world.
