Read this article in the New Scientist a few days ago and it reminded me of an interesting conversation I had with a Gilbert&Sullivan associate just under a year ago Preciousness )
*And obviously by 'evolved' I mean over the course of the organisms life-span. Stellar as opposed to biological evolution.

So yes, I have seen the latest music video from her supreme Gaga-ness and as expected, no I wasn't particularly impressed with it. On the plus side it had better editing than most Brit-flicks these days (which isn't a difficult thing, tbh) but on the down side... it had all these flashes of something that the precious critic within me grabbed onto, only to drop them quicksmart once she realised they weren't flashes of anything. It was just random stuff. Slick, pretty, cool, sexy random stuff. Troublesome, annoying, borderline [offensive], disappointing random stuff.

It was essentially Tarantino does pop music video.

Anyway, it got me thinking now that Lady Gaga has dropped her whole 'aren't I deconstructing modern celebrity women issues culture stuff' shtick, I wonder why no one seems to be paying attention to someone who is still exploring her original 'shtick' an manages to continue producing popular music that's both fun to dance to and to think to.

Perversely, I'm actually quite glad that her UK fanbase seems to be made up of all of two (myself and ma petite soeur) but it still bugs me - for obvious reasons - that here is one performance artist doing pretty much the same thing with a unique twist with the same levels of sophistication and style who doesn't get anything like the same exposure as the other.

And I also watched the first episode of Doctor Who. As I don't think it's fair for me to say anything about a new doctor until the end of a series, I'll just say it was nice to know there'll be so many familiar faces (Bill Nighy, Bill Nighy, Bill Nighy... oh and Bill Nighy for one) to look forward to.

I still think Moffat has issues.
