Heee!  I knew I couldn't be the only one who is leaning toward Orthodox Christianity.  Of course, I blame it all on Iulian, but still...

lol. Yeah, the fact that you were actually going to integrate a wizard's religious beliefs in a fanfic was quite something for me: it's nice to see a realistic approach to fanfiction!

To be honest, my fascination with Orthodox Christianity is really quite shallow. I travel to Nigeria a lot with my family and whenever we return from Gatwick airport, I always see the small Orthodox church hidden in trees: When I was younger, I just loved the fact that the 'onion' on the tower was bright blue and gold, whereas our church roofs were all slated and pointy...

These days, it's my inner mystic bitch that keeps yelling at me to go forth and do much investigation *sighs*

PS Oh yes, and the icons: I could spend hours staring at them.

Well, for me it's all about breaking the fanon stereotypes, really.  Though I have nothing against pagans or atheism, it seems like just about every HP character is a pagan or atheist, and that's just not realistic, IMO.  Some of us break from our childhood beliefs, but a lot of people don't, so what's wrong with representing that in fanfic?  But that's a rant for another day...

*sigh*  Unfortunately, the closest Orthodox Church I've been able to find is two hours away, so I don't see a whole lot of investigating in my immediate future.  Perhaps one day, though.  *tries to remain hopeful*
