Lupin's middle name is John: as an explanation for such an 'ordinary' name, JKR says that he is muggle born.

One of Dumbledore's numerous middle names is Brian. There isapossibility that he may be muggle-born or at least, not of completely pure-blood heritage

Oh, I so think Dumbledore is Muggle-born. And, incidentally, lower-class, judging by the fact that he isn't sure Aberforth can read. I'd imagine upper- or middle-class Victorian boys were always well educated. *shrug* Just MHO, though.

Though sometimes, I like to play around with Dumbledore being the old sort of country nobility... not really encouraged to learn how to read or write, maybe just enough to deal with the finances, (but even then, you'll always have the steward to deal with that rubbish, whilst you go forth and do much hunting of wolves)...
