A friend of ours has lot four cousins to Hurricane Ivan. Another has been unable to get contact with her husband. It's incredibly... I don't know how to describe it. I don't think tense is the right word. Something between that and numb We're all pretty worried, obviously. We have no idea what to expect or what to think. Feel so powerless.

Oh no, how horrible! I'm so sorry to hear that.

Our local news service has offered to try to locate MIA Florida hurricane victims if you give them all the contact information; is there anything like that your friend can use? The more people looking for her husband the better, I'd think.

Thanks for that! Actually we've got some good news - she managed to get through and he's okay (he only arrived there barely a day before the hurricane struck so they whisked him out sharpish, I'm guessing). It really brings these things closer though. Is it just me or does it seem tht since Sept 11, the world's become a much, much smaller place, not to talk of natural disasters like these?
