I am actually pretty tired - every evening this week, I've attended the Just 10 event on Clapham Common (the first time I've ever been to such a thing and it's great, inspiring and certainly challenging), come back home ealy late and hd to do what bits of my homework I could. I explained the situation - briefly - to my English Lit. teacher and she's okay if I leave my second essay draft until next week.

At least I'm sleeping better, I guess.

So yeah, my boring life so far. I promised y'all some rambles on Nigeria and my take on Igbo Reconstructionism, and they'll come soon enough (lol) just when I've recovered.

Something else I feel like mentioning:

Yesterday, I was talking to some friends about how when it comes to young people, very few actually care about them which is why so many turn to things such as the New Age spirituality (which I think is incredibly disrespectful and the most unimaginative spirituality I've ever come across, and I'm not just saying that because of my own religious bias) which basically means we have youth who either have no real hold on reality, or who have no real hold on reality (pick either: they're both the same).

I mean, label companies - music, fashion, whatever - don't care about the youth especially, they just want their parents' money. The Government isn't too concerned either, so long as it gets the brilliant results which it wants, making it feel as if youth aren't much more than a bunch of statistics.

When an incident like Columbine happens, or a group of child psychologists sudenly come up with the realisation that today's youth are more depressed than any other generation, journalists and others will shake their heads in outrage or mild concern, "a tragedy! An outrage! Shocking!" As if they've been living in this world with a sound proof paper bag over their heads.

And what's this obsession with sex? I mean, I know that the whole 'using sex to sell certain products' trend is actually diminishing, but you know something is up when they start advertising gravy with saucy looking housewives.

*laughs*

Ah well. I think I ought to get back to work and start knitting or something.
