Excellent. Captain Jack brilliantly infuriating as ever, and it's quite easy to see Gwen as the 'Rose' type, who exists to give a bunch of amoral alien hunters a human perspective.
Would have quite liked to learn more about Susie, the second in command who eventually shoots herself in the first episode. But ho-hum, brilliant intro as it was. In a very odd, corny sort of way, it's TV and movies and books like this that reminds me why I want to study science. *shrugs - that's about how intellectual I'll get, folks.
Anyway.
Very impressed by the sets, and though the acting is not au naturel, minimalist, as I tend to prefer, and I find the director's style a little too brash and modern (but that's the same with Dr Who, tbh, so it's no big deal), I love it.
Favourite characters so far? Well, I have an instinctive rebellion taking place in my gut against the Lee Evans look-alike (sorry - I'm such an image-fascist...) but I do rather like him, after all. Susie, as I said, looked to be a favourite of mine (what with her magic glove at al.) but then she went crazy-wazy and shot herself. *sighs* tends to happen a lot to my favourite, or would-be favourite, characters.
What else? Nada en todo verdad... can't wait until next week!
Doing some more reading and checking out some up and coming fantasy/sci-fi writers. Trudi Canavan to be precise. Am rather satisfied by her Black Magician's Trilogy. I mean, she's no Jacqueline Carey, but she handles old material/ideas very well. Very competently.
Off to bed now. Nighty-night!
