Sometimes I feel as if I'm a little retarded - as if there is something wrong with the way my mind works because I don't understand what other people just seem to accept as normal, fundamental, almost.

The issue of Human Rights is so completely strange to me. Actually no, in itself no, I tell a lie. What is strange is how seriously and literally we take what is essentially an abstract concept, with no sense of irony. Perhaps it's my inner anarchist, I really don't know, but there is something faintly ridiculous in the fact that I have 'Human Rights'. I have a right to have certain things and do other things and not suffer certain acts etc. as if to say that if I did not have this right, then I wouldn't have these things, or be able to not suffer from other things.

I can demand an education. I have a right to say what I like in public (now, the idea is without retribution, but that is impossible in reality, because retribution will still come in the form of an opposing argument or people being offended etc.). I have all these funny rights that are so essential but, really, are bizarrely empty. Maybe it's just me but, I feel really uncomfortable knowing that something so essentially empty and baseless is the cornerstone of modern civilisation. But then, what else is there?

Ye gods, it's actually quite horrible.

Interesting. Apparently the concept of human rights isn't even that old, if Wikipedia is to be trusted. Mind that you don't start taking Julius Evola seriously after this epiphany, though.

No, no... I'm a staunch defender of Human Rights, so please, ignore the ramblings of a chronic-depressive! It's another case of one's feeling versus what one knows to be right/wrong, really.
