Perhaps not, but there was definitely a crepuscular age.

*nods* Most revisionist historians who deal with this period seem to forget that we call ages 'Dark Ages' because we know little to nothing about them. So sure, we have graves that reveal people to have been averagely healthy, even doing quite well for themselves, we may even have special religious manuscripts from those times, but by and large, we know so little because no one cared or could afford to write about the times they were living in. That is what a Dark Age is (after all, religious mansucripts will always be written). I guess I can understand Pryor's enthusiasm and hype, though, because he did manage to form a more coherant and believable history of those Dark Ages, which no one has really bothered to do.
