I shudder whenever I hear the word perfect, mostly because there isn't actually such a thing (such a cliche, but true nonetheless) and it's the idea that there is some sort of higher Form (sorry, Plato, but it's true...) that all existence is attempting to ape that is incredibly disturbing. Rationally, I can see no reason why perfection in itself is such a bad thing. But then, perfection hasn't really been defined and being rational about something doesn't stop the chills.

I agree when you say that humanity just isn't ready for it yet. I'd like to think that as our technological capabilities increase, we become more enlightened in respect to such ideas about perfection and non perfection. If we don't, and remain with all the prejudices of the present, we probably will never be able to exploit technology to such an extent anyway.
